Marburg gives Christmas

The German-Ukrainian Association MAVKA and the Marburg initiative ‘Mit der Ukraine im Herzen’ (With Ukraine in our hearts) in cooperation with the Ukrainian non-profit organisation ‘The Key to The Future’ (https://www.facebook.com/JingleKidsOdesa) and the boarding school No. 7 of the general education sanatorium Zaporizhzhya (https://www.internat7.zp.ua/), as well as with the support of the Lutheran parish church St. Mary’s and the Elisabeth Church in Marburg, this year’s Christmas aid project!
We have decided to help these two organisations organise a small Christmas party for the children. Until mid-December, we will be collecting gift sets for children from anyone who would like to donate, which we will then send to the NGO ‘The Key to The Future’ in Odessa and the boarding school No. 7 in Zaporizhzhya. The German-Ukrainian association MAVKA will organise the transport and cover the costs.
In spring 2024, we carried out a similar project for the Ukrainian Easter celebrations and were able to send around 500 gift sets to ‘The Key to The Future’, each of which found a happy little owner.
If you would like to participate in our project, you can collect a small gift set (example below) and bring it to one of our collection points or help financially with a donation (our association is officially recognised as a non-profit organisation in Germany and we will gladly issue a donation receipt for your donation). Together, we can bring joy to children who need it so much!

How to put together a gift set

The gift set does not have to be very large; use the size of an average shoebox as a guide. Wrap the box and label it with the approximate age and gender of the child (if applicable). Optionally, include a card with contact information (e.g., email) for feedback, a drawing by the child, etc. Age of children: 6 to 16 years. An example of a gift set:

• Toys
• Sweets
• Clothing (in good condition)
• Craft supplies
• Hygiene items (nappies, towels, etc.)
• etc.
