In the land of sunbeams

In the magical land of sunbeams live extraordinary creatures called sunbeams, who bring joy, laughter and good cheer to children. With the help of the sunbeams, the sunbeams paint freckles for the good deeds of the children. The one who collects the most freckles receives the magical feather of the firebird, which can bring laughter, joy and comfort. But the evil Queen of Darkness, whose goal is to destroy all happiness, is hunting for this feather. If she and her henchmen succeed in capturing it, the children will always be sad, cry and fight with each other. The protagonist Wesnianka and his friends, together with the sunbeams, must stop the Queen of Darkness, who wants only one thing: for darkness, fear and gloom to reign everywhere.

The two-act fairy tale performance by the Kiev Theatre for Modern Drama and Comedy is based on the classic children’s stories by Vsevolod Nestayko and deals with the education of children, the ability to act selflessly and help each other in times of trouble.

ALLO

We often devote all our energy to building a successful career. In pursuit of our dreams, we sometimes forget what is essential. What is love? Love for your family, love for your soulmate, love for your work. And now imagine that one day all of that will no longer matter!

This is the story of two people, a man and a woman, who live in bunkers during the post-apocalypse. Neither of them knows of the other’s existence. By chance, a phone call brings these two destinies together. With each conversation, Margot and Felix regain a breath of life. Arguments, gossip, jokes, love, passion… Everything they once took for granted takes on new meaning. How easily our real world can turn into a fantasy.

The play ALLO by Serhiy Maren was written in 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic. According to the author, ‘[the play ALLO] has become relevant right now. The will to live is what drives the main characters. And no matter what difficulties they encounter, there is always a way out! The main characters are on the brink of survival, but they find the strength to love and enjoy life.”
