Who We Are

MAVKA – Deutsch-Ukrainischer Verein e.V. is a group of committed citizens from Germany and Ukraine in Marburg who have been providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine and organizing cultural and socio-political projects since June 2023. Originating from the private initiative of Ludmila Heck, who has been actively helping since the beginning of the Russian invasion in 2022, the association has already collected around 57 tons of relief supplies and supports Ukrainian communities with everyday and medical supplies. MAVKA also promotes Ukrainian culture in Marburg through festivals, concerts and theater as well as through social engagement such as demonstrations and events to make Ukraine visible as a democratic, European country.
